Juliets Afternoon Tea

As an early mother's day present, my sister and I treated my mum to a lovely afternoon tea at Juliets in Tunbridge Wells. It was somewhere we hadn't visited before, but after numerous recommendations and great reviews, we thought it would be a nice treat. She didn't know anything about it and was surprised when she saw the reservation in our name.

The staff were super friendly and I was surprised to find out that afternoon tea allowed us to try as many different teas as we fancied throughout the experience. In previous places I have been, there was unlimited tea, but you had to stick to one variety so this was a nice feature. The tea was Teapigs and between us, we tried Superberry, Lemon and Ginger, Peppermint, Winter Spice and Chilli Chai. All were delicious and the peppermint was perfect as an after dinner palette cleanser.

We started our food with a variety of freshly prepared sandwiches, which included smoked salmon and cream cheese, Egg, and Cheese, cucumber and mint. The smoked salmon was amazing and I enjoyed some for leftovers the next day as well.
We then moved on to the scones, where we had a plain and a raisin one each with clotted cream and jam. When I first saw these, I thought they might be a little heavy but they were still slightly warm, light and fluffy. Delicious.
And finally the cakes. There was a melt in the mouth lemon tart, an interesting carrot cake with walnuts and a scrummy brownie. We could not finish all the cakes either as we were also filling up with tea, but again, they were delicious the next day as well.
I was hugely impressed with the afternoon tea and thought it was a bargain at £17.50 each.

Another thing to mention, was while we were there, people were munching on scrambled eggs, homemade baked beans, and chunks of toast that gave me food envy despite already being full of tasty cakes. The bread was sliced into large pieces and the food was generous and freshly make, encouraging me to revisit for brunch at some point in the near future.
