Ilumi - Zaatar Chicken Review

I won an Za-atar Chicken pouch from Ilumi through a Twitter competition, and after having tried their products before, I was excited to try this. However, it had been put in my cupboard for a lazy day and forgotten about. Luckily, due to the cooking process of the food, they had a great shelf life and were still far from the best before date.

Yesterday, I came home late after a long day at work and fancied something quick that wasn't baked beans or soup and suddenly found this. It took just 2 mins in the microwave (and requires no washing up in the cooking process) and only contains 'good' ingredients. I had never tried Za'atar Chicken before, so was not aware of what to expect, but the flavour was delicious. The blend of spices were perfect and the chicken was moist and fell apart.

'We've taken the classic Moroccan spices of cinnamon, ground coriander, cumin and turmeric and used them to spice up our delicious free range chicken, to which we have added brown basmati rice, raisins and apricots for a truly comforting Middle Eastern supper.'

Marinated Chicken (40%), Water, Onion, Brown Basmati Rice (7%), Olive Oil, Chicken Stock, Raisins (3%), Tapioca Starch, Honey (<2%), Coriander (<2%), Apricots, Lemon Juice (<2%), Parsley (<2%), Garlic, Lime Juice, Lemon Zest (<2%), Oregano (<2%), Thyme (<2%), Turmeric, Ground Coriander, Sea Salt, Cumin, Ground Cinnamon.
Marinated Chicken Contains: Chicken (90%), Water, Sea Salt, Potato Starch.

As you can see, there is nothing that you wouldn't recognise as something in your own kitchen cupboards, so a perfectly healthy guilt-free ready meal.

I love the Ilumi brand and what they stand for and would definitely recommend their products to anyone. I do not advocate ready meals as they are normally full of salt or preservatives, but these are more recognisable as tasty home cooking and get the thumbs up from me! I look forward to trying their new creations.
