Recipe 29 Grandma's Best Recipe Chocolate Chip Cookies

It's the weekend and what a better way to spend it than baking and eating! I have just had an offer accepted on a flat which means I have lots of sorting and organising to do so baking a treat is a perfect break from all the paperwork. I looked through my cookbooks and opted for a simple looking cookie recipe from Grandma's Best Recipe book.
Ingredients: (It says it makes 30 cookies but it made about 20 fat ones for me)
175g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
125g soft margarine
85g light muscavado sugar
55g castor sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
125g plain chocolate chips (I used less but mixed chocolate chips and chunks of chocolate)

1. Preheat oven to 190 C/ 365F/ Gas Mark 5.
2. Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir until well combined.
3. Places tablespoons of the mixture on greased baking trays, allowing room to spread.
4. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool.

I love recipes that have only one simple step of combining ingredients and they came out really tasty. They were different from the flat smooth looking cookies in the picture they provide but enjoyed the thicker crispiness of them. I thought they were perfect with a cup of tea and will be popping the rest in the freezer and take out gradually for my packed lunch.

I used basic cheap ingredients for these so they work out to be very cheap, but you can of course use different chocolates, or even try it with raisins or nuts as well.
