Tentazioni Italian Restaurant Review

On my holiday wish list, there are quite a few countries I have yet to visit, but topping that list is Italy. My love of italian food is ever growing and traveling there to enjoy authentic cuisine would be a dream, however this is not the only way to experience the delicious food of the country. Hidden away from the usual buzzing centre of London is a little gem of an Italian restaurant located near London Bridge. Founded nearly 17 years ago, this well established Italian can entice any passer by with it's striking entrance, showcasing artwork along with a stunning seasonal menu.
I was sure not to miss the opportunity to try a few of their dishes, excited to experience the new bold flavours and combinations that can be found on the menu.
With a ground floor main dining area, along with an elevated smaller private area, this would be a perfect place for any type of celebration. From small intimate parties, to larger Christmas events, Tentazioni would be the perfect warm and inviting location.
We were greeted by the friendly staff and the talented head chef with Prosecco and a selection of warm breads baked in house to dip into a variety of different oils. Due to popular demand, Tentazioni opened a smaller deli style shop selling the quality products you can find in the restaurant. Situated just a short walk away from their main restaurant, Tentazioni Fine Food caters for the lunch time customers along with those who may want to pick up a fine Italian wine on their journey home.
The first dish we tried was 'Rubik' Swordfish Cubes with Poppy Seeds, Aubergine Ratatouille and Red Pepper Coulis. I did enjoy this dish, but was well aware of the potential poppy seed in teeth situation!
This was followed by Beef Fillet Carpaccio with White Chicory served with Foie Gras Ice Cream and Juicy Fresh Figs. Originally I assumed 'Ice Cream' was a fancy word for something less frozen, but was surprised to be served actual ice cream and find that it was a great addition to the dish!
Next up was a delicious Roast Pumpkin Ravioli with Amaretti Biscuits and Fruit Mustard Served with Butter and Sage Sauce. The aroma of this dish immediately sent my mouth watering, and the flavour did not disappoint. Some found it a little too sweet, but for my palette it was something I could finish off a whole plate of with no hesitation.
This was followed by the restaurants famous Fresh Eggs Tagliatelle 'Tentazioni' with Black Truffle Sauce. There was no doubt as why this was a firm favourite on the menu with a rich flavour and texture, it is perfect comfort food.
We also tried Grilled Wild Scottish Lobster with Beef Fillet Carpaccio Millefeuille served with Garden Salad and Deep Fried Granny Smith Apple. I would say this was actually my least favourite of them all, despite still being tasty. The Lobster was delicious, but it is something I would have preferred without the red meat as I am not really into the 'Surf and Turf' style of food.
The next dish was a new discovery for me; Dried Porcini Mushroom and Fresh Foie Gras Creamy Risotto served with Oven Baked Boneless Quail and Mirth Sauce. Mushrooms are not my thing but thankfully it wasn't the hero of the dish. The star for me was the slightly crispy but moist quail, as it was something I had never tried before, and it will not be the last time. Perfect with the creamy risotto, this would be another dish I would highly recommend.
To finish the meal, we were served Classic Tiramisu Flambe. It was a light delicate dessert, with a good amount of alcohol and pieces of chocolate nestled at the bottom as a nice surprise.
Fine authentic Italian food served beautifully in a warm relaxed environment means this restaurant is not one to be overlooked. Thanks to Tentazioni for inviting me to try your menu of exciting flavours! Check it out for yourself here.
