Giovanni Rana Italian Butter and Sage Sauce recipe

As part of the launch of new authentic flavours of Italy from Giovanni Rana, I was given some sauces to try, but in a new and exciting way. I will say the Butter and Sage sauce was the one I had the most trouble coming up with ideas and everything seemed to include some kind of pasta, which wasn't the point of the challenge. The sauce is described 'with sophisticated smoothness of cream and velvety butter hints, paired beautifully with aromatic Mediterranean sage.'
After getting home from a long day, I wanted something quick and easy and love the speed that Gnocchi takes to cook. From the sauces I had, I thought Butter and Sage would be the best match.

Butter and Sage Gnocchi with spinach
Method
1. Finely chop up a red onion and fry until soft.
2. Cook gnocchi in boiling water as per the cooking instructions (normally about 5 minutes)
3. Add a couple of balls of frozen spinach (or a couple of handfuls of fresh spinach) to the boiling water.
4. Add the sauce to the cooked onions.
5. Strain gnocchi and spinach and add to the sauce and spinach mixture. Serve with broccoli.

The sauce was very creamy and perfect after a long day out. I think it helped to have the onions and other vegetables with it, otherwise it might have been a bit too heavy.
Some other ideas I had with this sauce was to stir it through some polenta, or to use it as a sauce for sausages.
