WIAW Jamie Oliver's Italian Dinner
This weeks What I Ate Wednesday comes from my day of food on Tuesday. Monday was a day spent having tests at the hospital which isn't the kind of environment to take photos of what I was nibbling on.
So on Tuesday, I had some porridge with half a mashed banana, and topped with the other half, peanut butter, blueberries and seeds.
Lunch was some leftover soup that I made from a recipe last night (post to come soon). It was roasted tomato soup with sun dried tomatoes and topped with basil. The flavours really popped overnight and was even tastier the next day.
I had a snack at work of a strange green tea KitKat that a colleague had bought in and strangely tasted of birthday cake.... I think I will stick to the classic.
I did snack on some fruit in the afternoon but didn't want to fill myself up too much as I was making a visit to the Jamie Oliver's Italian in Greenwich. I had a gold card which entitled me to 50% off, a free bellini for every person on the table and a taster of crab arancini.
For main, I chose the Famous Prawn Linguine, which came in a rich tomatoey sauce that wasn't too spicy and served with rocket. We also picked some funky chips to share, and a mix of breads which came with tomato and olive tapenade and the classic oil and vinegar.
I was already pretty full by this time, but when browsing through the dessert menu, we saw the lemon meringue cheesecake with lemon curd (divine) and the melting chocolate praline pudding. As were getting 50% off, we couldn't resist giving both a try and sharing them.
Needless to say, after all this food, I had a massive sugar crush, but a three mile walk home! The whole food bill only came to £8.50 each which was a massive bargain!
Thanks to Peas and Crayons for hosting.
