WIAW Autumn Holiday Edition

As Christmas approaches, it is nice to have a sneaky week off work in the New Forest. I have never been down this late in the year, and although very chilly, it's great to wrap up warm in front of the open fire. My first breakfast of my break was a crumpet with lashings of butter, yogurt and apple which I then had with some granola.
We got in the Christmas spirit for lunch and ate a brie, bacon, cranberry and spinach panini that was actually toasted on a George Foreman grill, but worked really well.
I had an afternoon snack of biscuits from a selection of Maryland cookies and the amazing Chocolate selection from Marks and Spencers
We had an afternoon making some edible Christmas presents and whilst we were in the kitchen, we made a Steak and Ale pie. Neither of us had tried making our own before, so used a recipe as a base and added in different ingredients we thought would work well. The gravy was nice and rich and we served it up with some celeriac mash, sweet potato mash, carrot and broccoli.
In the evening, despite being really full from a second helping of pie, I nibbled on another chocolate biscuit. Despite being on holiday, I love the fact that we have time to cook and enjoy different foods and am pleased to have a place that enables us to do that.
Do you enjoy foodie holidays? What have you eaten this Wednesday?
