Breakfast with BOB

Arla have launched a new fat-free milk which is enriched with protein to create a flavour just as good as the standard semi-skimmed milk. The milk is pasteurised, and filtered to create a texture and taste similar to regular milk whilst being free from artificial ingredients and additives. Breakfast is the only time of day I enjoy milk, aside from a couple of cups of tea a day, so wanted to try this 'Best of Both' milk with different morning recipes.
Banana & Spinach Smoothie
Smoothies are a great quick and healthy breakfast that can be made into whatever you like based on fruit that you have lying around. I normally always have some bananas lying around which are perfect for smoothies (though I find they have better flavour once they have been frozen).

Ingredients (serves 2)
1 cup of BOB Milk
2 Bananas,
2 balls of frozen spinach
1 tbsp cashew butter

Place all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.



Winter warming porridge
When the weather is colder, there is nothing like a bowl of porridge, and the BOB milk is a perfect addition to a morning meal with the extra protein content. As it is very similar too semi-skimmed milk in flavour and texture, the oatmeal comes out lovely and smooth.

Ingredients
1 banana,
1 cup of oats,
1 cup BOB milk
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp linseed.

1. Mash up half the banana with a fork, then stir through the oats and milk. Place in the microwave for 2 mins, stirring halfway through (you may want to add more milk at this point to get your preferred consistency).
2. Top with the other half of banana, cinnamon, seeds and peanut butter.
Nutty Granola
Another great way to enjoy milk in the morning is with some granola. I love making my own mix, using up any leftover seeds or nuts that I have to make a fresh breakfast staple (though I often eat this as an afternoon snack with some fruit)

Ingredients,
50ml coconut oil,
125ml honey
2tsp vanilla extract
300g porridge oats,
50g seeds
150g mixed nuts (I used leftover nuts from Christmas)
50g coconut flakes

1. Combine the oil, honey, vanilla and oats in a bowl and mix until combined.
2. Add the nuts and seeds and baked in an oven 180c for 10mins
3. Stir in the coconut flake and bake for another 10mins
4. Enjoy with some BOB milk and cut up fruit.
This can be eaten straight away or enjoyed for around 3 weeks if you store it in an airtight container.
